What is a urethral stricture?
Published
A urethral stricture is a narrowing of the urethra—the tube that carries urine from the bladder to outside the body. The narrowing usually occurs because scar tissue forms within or around the urethra, reducing the passage available for urine.
Urethral stricture disease can affect men and women, but it is much more common in men. The severity can range from a short, mild narrowing causing a weak urinary stream to a long or dense stricture that significantly obstructs urine flow.
